About GST Return Filing – 1 Year GST Filing
Overview
GSTR-3B is the summary return through which regular taxpayers declare outward supplies, claim input tax credit and pay GST, under Section 39 of the CGST Act, 2017. Monthly filers must file it by the 20th of the following month.
Liability is auto-populated from GSTR-1 and ITC from GSTR-2B, and the GST portal has progressively restricted edits to auto-populated values. Accurate reconciliation before filing is therefore essential to avoid excess ITC claims, DRC-01C intimations and interest.
Company Mitra prepares and files your monthly GSTR-3B:
- Reconciling purchases with GSTR-2B
- Computing output tax, reverse charge and eligible ITC
- Checking blocked credits and reversals
- Preparing the challan and filing the return
The fee is per monthly return. We send reminders before the due date so you avoid late fees and e-way bill blocking.
Who needs it

Frequently asked questions
What is the due date of monthly GSTR-3B?
The 20th of the following month.
Can GSTR-3B be revised?
No. Corrections are made in subsequent returns, and auto-populated liability from GSTR-1 should be corrected through GSTR-1A before filing.
Can I claim ITC not shown in GSTR-2B?
Generally no. ITC is restricted to invoices reflected in GSTR-2B as per Section 16(2)(aa) and Rule 36(4).
Is interest charged on ITC?
Interest under Section 50 applies to tax paid late in cash and to ITC wrongly availed and utilised.
Compliances after this
- Pay tax before filing as per the challan.
- Keep GSTR-2B reconciliation for each month.
- Reconcile annually before filing GSTR-9.
Penalty for delay / non-compliance
Late GSTR-3B attracts a late fee of ₹50 per day (₹20 per day for nil returns) under Section 47, capped based on turnover as notified, and interest at 18 percent per annum on tax paid late in cash under Section 50. Non-filing for two consecutive periods blocks e-way bill generation under Rule 138E, and continued non-filing can lead to cancellation under Section 29. From July 2025, returns cannot be filed after three years from the due date.
