Overview
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of food products in India. Every food business operator (FBO) must obtain an FSSAI license or registration to comply with legal requirements and maintain consumer trust. The FSSAI license is a mandatory certification for food-related businesses, ensuring that food products meet safety and hygiene standards. FSSAI offers three types of registrations and licenses based on the size and nature of the business:
  • Basic Registration: For small businesses and startups with an annual turnover of up to ₹12 lakhs.
