About DIR-3 KYC
Overview
DIR-3 KYC is the KYC filing that every individual holding a Director Identification Number (DIN) must complete with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs under Rule 12A of the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014. It keeps the director's PAN, address, mobile and email details verified.
The Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Amendment Rules, 2025 changed the earlier annual requirement to a once in three financial years cycle from 31 March 2026, with a fresh filing required when personal details change. Due dates under the new cycle depend on your DIN status, so we check it on the MCA V3 portal before filing.

Frequently asked questions
How often is DIR-3 KYC required now?
MCA amended the rules effective from 31 March 2026 to require KYC once every three financial years, with a fresh filing when contact details change. Check your due status on the MCA portal or ask our team.
What is the late fee?
If KYC is not filed by the due date, the DIN is deactivated and a fee of Rs 5,000 is payable to reactivate it.
Is it required for disqualified directors?
Yes. Every individual holding a DIN must complete KYC.
Do I need a DSC?
Yes. The form is signed with the director's own DSC.
Compliances after this
- Keep your registered mobile and email active, as MCA sends OTPs to them.
- File a fresh KYC whenever your address, mobile or email changes.
- Track your next KYC due year on the MCA portal.
Penalty for delay / non-compliance
If DIR-3 KYC is not filed by the due date, the DIN is marked as deactivated due to non-filing of KYC under Rule 12A, and a fee of Rs 5,000 is payable to reactivate it. A director with a deactivated DIN cannot sign or be associated with MCA filings until KYC is completed.
